Samsung EX2F Digital Camera
Samsung has just released a new point-and-shoot camera, the E
X2F, which bridges the gap between fully manual and fully automated shooting styles. The EXF2 is an ideal companion to photographers who already own a DLSR, but want to have a secondary camera to carry everywhere without the burden of carrying a full-size SLR camera. It is also the perfect solution for photographers looking to upgrade from a more basic point-and-shoot camera to one with greater manual control and imaging quality. This camera features an impressively bright, fast f/1.4 Schneider-Kreuznach 5.2-17.2mm (equivalent to a 24-80mm lens in 35mm format) lens, 12.4 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, 3.0-inch swivel AMOLED monitor and Wi-Fi compatibility, making it perfect for spontaneous image making and sharing without compromising image quality.
The impressive focal point of this camera is its integrated 24-80mm f/1.4 lens. This wide angle zoom lens with large maximum aperture gives the ability to capture a sufficient range of situations effectively while retaining low light and focus-controlling benefits. Composed of 11 elements in 9 groups, including four aspherical elements and two high-refractive lenses, this lens brings greater light transmission and brightness to the sensor, creating greater image quality and richer-looking photographs. Sharpness and clarity are another benefit of the Schneider glass, which is further enhanced by the shallow depth-of-field possibilities and Dual IS system.
In addition to the range of usable apertures, a neutral density filter has also been integrated into the design, which gives users even more control of depth of field, selective focus and motion control in any situation. This filter allows you to easily isolate subjects from their backgrounds by using a larger aperture than normally required; or you can blur motion by using a slower shutter speed than usual.
The 1/1.7" BSI CMOS sensor with 12.4-megapixel resolution provides high-resolution imagery for still images and high-definition video, rendering photos and movies with clear tones and smooth image quality. This imaging capability extends itself to low-light situations, too, with an extended ISO sensitivity of 12800. The CMOS sensor affords this sensitivity while retaining low noise levels and maintaining the pro-standard image quality. Image capture is saved in the standard JPEG format as well as in RAW format, allowing you to contain more information in your files, ideal for post-production manipulation.
In addition to 12.4 megapixel still imagery, HD video is supported up to 1080/30p format for display on full HD televisions. Furthering the capturing ability even more, the EXF2 features a Dual Capture function, which enables you to capture full resolution, 12MP stills while recording 1080p HD video.
Mimicking the physical qualities of a DSLR, the EX2F features magnesium construction, giving it a weighty, solid feel with a high level of durability. Within the sleek shell, the camera supports full manual control, also harking to the traditional benefits of a DSLR, and a lens design that resembles an interchangeable lens. This form factor gives the camera more intuitive handling, especially when working in shutter or aperture priority modes or ful
l manual mode. The rotating lens ring and dual top dial design provide efficiency and speed for working in spontaneous situations, while allowing for precise manipulation of camera settings for discerning photographers.
All of the camera settings are easily viewable through the Smart Panel user interface, which combines all image settings into an easy-to-read display. For playback, review and composition of movies and photographs: a 3-inch AMOLED screen provides high resolution monitoring under any viewing conditions. The swivel mechanism of the monitor is ideal for use when working with high or low angle shooting positions, or for more comfortable viewing from a variety of angles. It even tilts to face forward for accurate composition of self-portraits.
The EX2F is designed within the realms of other Samsung SMART cameras and features a rich combination of wireless utility with high-resolution imagery. The Wi-Fi connectivity enables you to easily back up your images and video remotely, either directly to your PC or to a cloud service, as well as direct uploading to social networking sites like Facebook or YouTube. You can also simply email your imagery to yourself or to others.
Another strong facet of the wireless connectivity is Mobile Link, which enables remote connection with your smart phone. This function provides you with the ability to share images and video between your camera and phone without having to resize your files. Additionally, Remote Viewfinder is enabled with many smart phones, which renders your phone’s screen as the effective viewfinder and control panel from which to operate your EX2F. All of the wireless functionality is easily accessible through the SMART LINK button, which gives one-touch simplicity for use.
The EX2F is an aptly capable camera designed to navigate the gap between a small form factor camera and a feature-rich DSLR. Aside from the impressive imaging capabilities of an f/1.4 Schneider lens, 12.4MP CMOS sensor and full manual control, this camera supports intelligent wireless capabilities and manages to provide such a range of functionality in a highly compact, durable camera body.

Samsung EX2F compact camera is very lightweight.Features is Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, 12.4 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, HD video shooting at 1080/30p, camera holds a SMART LINK button which if you click then will get access to all these functions, Dual IS, Dual IS and many more.
What's in the Box of the Samsung EX2F compact camera ? Does it come with battery charger and usb cable?
Hello,
While I am guessing a charger is included, we will update our listing when we know more from Samsung. They do not list included item details on their site at this time.
Now that looks like a unit I can get serious with when I'm not carrying my DSLR. I like the idea of the bias being in favour (heavily in favour) of the camera, as opposed to a cell phone with a camera. The "smart" camera-WiFi capability makes this a very attractive tool for my purposes. Smart thinking on Samsung's part.
This will be great if the specifications translate into real world photographic situations. I'm very excited to see how it tests out. Added to my "wish list".
Cheers*
